Recording Mode for Mac

A clean Mac screen,
in one click.

Before you record or share your screen, Levers hides your desktop, Dock, other apps and menu bar icons in one click. When you’re done, one click puts it all back.

$5 $29 once  ·  macOS 15 or later  ·  14-day refund

Recording Mode 8 things, one click
  • Do Not Disturb on
  • Desktop icons hidden
  • Other apps hidden
  • Dock hidden
  • Menu bar icons hidden
  • Backdrop up
  • Kept awake
  • Alert sounds muted

Try it: Start and Restore work. The screen is drawn in the page; it reads nothing from your Mac.

Nothing private on screen.

Desktop files, chats, the Dock, the clutter in the menu bar: gone before anyone sees them.

Everything back after.

Each change is written down first and undone in reverse. Even after a crash.

One click, or none.

From the menu bar, a hotkey, Siri or a shortcut. It takes a second.

One click in.
One click back.

Before you record, present or share your screen, Recording Mode hides what nobody needs to see. When you’re done, it puts each thing back exactly the way it was.

Choose what goes.
Levers remembers what was there.

Pick the things Recording Mode changes in Settings. Each one is written down before it changes and undone in reverse when you stop. Anything you changed back yourself stays as you left it.

  • A 3 · 2 · 1 countdown before it starts, if you want one
  • A time limit, with fifteen more minutes a click away
  • A red dot and a timer in the menu bar while it’s on

Safe, even if something quits.

A small journal on your Mac holds every change. If Levers or the Mac stops mid-recording, the next launch puts everything back.

A backdrop behind your work.

A color, a gradient, a soft mesh or a picture fills the screen behind the window in front.

Quiet while it runs.

Do Not Disturb on, alert sounds off, the Mac kept awake, until you stop.

The screen can go dark on its own. The Mac stays awake until the timer runs out, or until you say so.

A timer, a time, or no end.

Five minutes to four hours, until midnight or tomorrow morning, or until you turn it off. Two hours to start with.

More time, one click.

The job ran long? +15m, +1h or +4h from the dropdown, or the menu bar’s timer.

Every switch has a timer.

Do Not Disturb for the next hour, Mute Microphone until the call ends. Each switch turns itself off when you say.

Using Levers

What does Recording Mode change?

Whatever you pick in Settings › Recording Mode: it can hide desktop icons, other apps, the Dock and your menu bar icons, put a backdrop behind the app in front, turn on Do Not Disturb, keep the Mac awake, mute alert sounds, and switch Dark Mode, Night Shift or True Tone.

Does it really put everything back?

Yes. Levers writes down how each thing was before it changes it, and undoes the changes in reverse when you stop. Only what it changed is touched: anything you changed back yourself in the meantime stays as you left it. If Levers quits or the Mac restarts while Recording Mode is on, the next launch puts everything back.

How do I start it?

Click Start in the dropdown, ⌥-click the Levers icon in the menu bar, press ⌃⌥⌘R in any app, or ask Siri to “Start Recording Mode in Levers”. Recording Mode and every switch are also actions in the Shortcuts app.

Can I choose which switches the dropdown shows?

Yes. In Settings › Switches you put switches on three shelves: always shown, under Show all, and hidden. Drag a switch from one to another.

Your Mac and your data

Which Macs does it run on?

macOS 15 Sequoia or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

What permissions does it ask for?

Only the ones a switch needs, and only when you first use it: Accessibility to hide chosen menu bar icons and to lock the keyboard, permission to control System Events for the Dock and Dark Mode, and Bluetooth for AirPods. Do Not Disturb works through two shortcuts you add once, because macOS has no other way for an app to set Focus.

Does it collect any data?

No. There is no account and no analytics. Levers goes online only to check your license and for updates; the privacy page lists exactly what those send.

Buying

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once and keep the license for good, with every future update included.

Is there a free trial?

No, but every purchase has a 14-day refund. If Levers isn’t for you, email us within 14 days and you get your money back, no reason needed.

How many Macs can I use it on?

As many as your plan covers: 1, 3 or 10. One key works on all of them, and you can move it from one Mac to another yourself in Settings › License.

Do I get Levers with Flit Lifetime?

Yes. Flit Lifetime comes with Vitals and Levers, all three apps for one payment; buy it on the pricing page and the three keys arrive in one email. If you already own Flit Lifetime, claim Levers at leversmac.com/flit with your Flit key.

Is there a student or teacher discount?

Yes, half price. Email us from your school or university email, or with a photo of your student or staff card, and a person replies with a one-use code for checkout.

Why is it so cheap?

These are launch prices. After the launch, Levers is $29 a Mac. What you pay now is what you pay, and your updates stay free.
